Cath Sim - Prototype

Description

CathSim is an educational medical simulation game that teaches the workflow of a cardiac catheterization / coronary angiography procedure. You step into the role of the operator and work through a real case from patient assessment to reading the final angiogram — making the same decisions a trainee would in the cath lab. 

How to play

Goal: Complete the catheterization procedure correctly, from prepping equipment to reviewing the angiogram.

Controls

- WASD — move

- Mouse — look around

- E — interact / pick up / place item

- Left Mouse (hold) — perform timed actions (flushing, injecting contrast)

- Mouse + Click / Space — arterial puncture timing

- A / D — cycle angiogram projections during review

The flow

1. Select a case and read the patient's history.

2. Prep the equipment — explore the carts, inspect each item, and carry the correct tools to the prep table. Watch out: decoys are mixed in, and their positions change each run.

3. Heparin / flushing — calculate the correct heparin dose (Case 1) and flush the equipment.

4. Arterial puncture — inject lidocaine, choose the right needle gauge and guide wire, then click / press Space while the marker is in the green zone to land a clean puncture.

5. Inject contrast — hold Left Mouse to fill the contrast bar.

6. Review the angiogram — the X-ray video plays; use A / D to switch projections and identify the lesion, then press E to finish.

7. The run ends and returns you to the menu — pick a case and try again.

Tip: If you choose the wrong tool, gauge, or dose, the game tells you why — read the feedback, it's the lesson.

This is an early prototype built as a learning/portfolio project — not a finished or clinically validated product. Several steps are simplified, some procedure stages are still stubbed out, model and UI are placeholder, and it is not intended for real medical training or decision-making.
